Appeal to the Great Spirit
Museum of Fine Arts
Cyrus Dallin‘s statue Appeal to the Great Spirit has stood outside the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston since 1912. I found this photo in Boston Public Library’s Flickr archives. In 1932 it looks as though it was given a good cleaning. Today’s conservators must be cringing seeing that ladder leaning on the artwork.

Today the sculpture remains in the same place, the center piece in front of the newly restored south entrance.
