Fort Warren is now a Nation Historic Site administered by the U. S. National Park Service. It defended the city of Boston from 1833 to 1950. It was the site of prison of war camp during the Civil War. Confederate officers and government officials. James M. Mason and John Slidell, the Confederate diplomats seized in the Trent Affair, were among those held at the fort. High ranking civilians held at Fort Warren include Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens and Confederate Postmaster General John Reagan.

Georges Island is known to be haunted by the ghost of the “Lady in Black.” Can you imaging spotting her here late at night?
